Porphyry Paving
Porphyry is an extremely durable material. For many centuries it has been used in the streets and public squares of Europe; most commonly found in Italy, Austria, Switzerland and Germany. Porphyry is generally used in small pieces which are machine split, irregular, cubic sizes in a pattern. It is also available in irregular flagged pieces as well as dimensional cut to size patterns. The natural irregular surfaces of porphyry are a good texture and offer a very practical high friction rating. The stone can also be produced in a flamed or blasted surface treatment for all of our cut and calibrated materials. Additionally we offer polished porphyry tiles. These are a dramatic and an elegant option for a matching indoor surface to a porphyry exterior. Colors can be selected in a specific range or a blended mix; from dark charcoal grays, silvers and blue-violets to deep crimson and amethyst reds.
